Sabine Sahyoun party of 6 had dinner at Valenti's Italian
Restaurant of Venice and rated the Calamari, caprese, chicken
valenti, Lobster ravioli, pizza, osso bucco poor because,
"appetizers were bland, main course smothered in heavy cream sauce"
and writes on April 9, 2007, "DO NOT GO THERE! Ridiculously
expensive for this area. We went early, they were not busy, took a
long time to get drinks, 1 hr 45 min to get main course. 3 adults 3
kids and we had to pay 18% gratuity ($ 30) for lousy service, total
of $177. Food was mediocre, kids were full on bread because of long
wait. I did not want to leave that much tip so I asked to talk to
owner who was rude and defended his waitress and after saying that I
would spread the word about our treatment he said that he does good
business and doesn't care. We will spread the word!!! THanks."

Overall Experience: 5 Anonymous party of 2 had dinner at Valenti's Italian Restaurant
in Venice and rated the Spaghetti and meatball fair because,
"extremely average." and writes on March 19, 2007, "The first trip
to this restaurant was destined to be our last trip as well. The
dinner entree included a salad, which was nothing more than a simple
iceberg lettuce quarter served with 2 tomato slices. I was
disappointed by the lack of darker, more nutritional greens, and
although a few croutons might have subdued some of my displeasure,
that was not to be the case. Bread was plain white Italian bread
sliced and presented with pre-wrapped cubes of country spread. I
would have much preferred something crustier and more rustic than
the white bread, and served with some olive oil and fresh herbs, or
at least butter. I don't eat country spread in my own house, I was
not about to eat it with bland white bread either. The spaghetti and
meat ball entree was exactly that, a huge plate of white spaghetti
with one large, lonesome looking meatball sitting on top of the
gargantuan mound. The single meatball was not memorable, while the
sauce on the other hand, tasted like it came directly from a can of
Hunt's tomato sauce. A couple of sprinkles of oregano or basil,
might have made it seem a bit more "Italian", and might even have
cut the acidity of the sauce somewhat. However, perhaps I had simply
imagined that a restaurant named "Valenti's" would be Italian in
nature, since any evidence of Authentic Italian cooking was truly
lacking in this establishment from my viewpoint. The decor and
ambiance was quite pleasing to the eye, however, but when I noticed
some dark smudges on the plate underneath the casserole dish upon
which my partner's manicotti was served, I totally lost what
remained of my appetite. When these mysterious dark smudges were
brought to management's attention, the response would have been what
one would have expected from a diva, not a concerned restaurant
owner. With Venice's dearth of fine dining establishments, one can
only hope that the town's people will eventually tire of poor and
mediocre food enough to complain, as I have done. For me, I'll
continue to travel the 45 minutes to Sarasota until something
changes for the better in downtown Venice's restaurant venues."

and always appreciate the warm weather and friendly people of the
area. In a constant search for new and exciting restaurants with
each visit, my family and I are drawn to Valenti's Restaurant.
The establishment is impeccably clean and the family-owned
atmosphere makes the stay unrushed and pleasant. The food, ample in
portion, taste and quality, speaks for itself.
Quite possibly some of the best Italian food I have ever had--which
may be because the husband and wife owners, who are both charming
and hospitable, are from Italy and oversee the restaurant every
night.
What we like most about Valenti's: moderate prices, high-quality,
and all the baked goodies that great you when you first wait to be
seated.
What we recommend: go early- to mid-evening, good place to bring
your friends or guests for a great meal; their veal Marsala is one
of my favorite dishes---and TIRAMISU!!
Back to the cold weather now; we look forward to the warmth and good
food upon our next visit." |
