Art party of 2 had
dinner at Rosebuds ordering Chicken Oscar and Lobster and rated
the food poor because, "Martini was warm and the chicken oscar
was sour. It was horrible" and writes on August 17, 2009, "This
was a horrible experience. The Martini was served warm. The
service was rushed and the Chicken Oscar had a sour taste.
Not my first time there but possibly the last."

Kim Allen party of
5 had dinner at Rosebuds Chicken Fontana, Lobster, Prime Rib and
rated the food poor because, "uninspired, generic and the
service was terrible--please read for more info" and writes on
June 6, 2009, "Our party of 5 went to Rosebuds for the first
time to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We
anticipated a great dining experience, but we were fooled by a
lovely menu. The food is sub-par, not even on the quality of
Carrabba's--yet at higher prices! The sauces seem to be generic
Campbell's' soup or melted Velveeta. The salads were iceberg
lettuce and drenched with a choice of only 4 dressings--ranch,
bleu cheese, Caesar, or raspberry vinaigrette. No Italian or oil
and vinegar? Everything was heavy, uninspired, and and
definitely geared to a mediocre palate.
The chicken Fontana was little pieces of chicken on top of
Fontana (?) cheese and draped with at least a cup of some kind
of creamy yellowish gravy. The mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat
were flooded with a orange Velveeta-type cheese sauce. My
broccoli was covered with orange Velveeta-type cheese sauce.
But the BIGGEST PROBLEM was when I ordered "the lobster", after
the waitress had recited the nightly specials, one of which was
a single Maine lobster for $16.99. The dish I received did not
look like a Maine lobster, so I got the waitress's attention and
told her I thought there was a mix-up. Oh no, she told me, that
was a single lobster tail. I said I had not ordered a lobster
tail, I had ordered a lobster. She told me that what I was
looking at was a single Florida lobster tail. I explained that I
live in Florida, I know what a Florida lobster tail looks like,
and I had ordered a lobster--and I pointed to the diner at the
table next to ours, where there was a bright red lobster. The
waitress then argued that I did not order the lobster, I had
ordered the lobster TAIL. [As a note, I do not care for Florida
lobster tail, it is too tough]. I said, no, I had never said I
wanted the tail. I waited for the waitress to pull her pad out
and review my order to prove me wrong (though I knew I was
right) but she didn't--instead, she once again insisted that I
had said I wanted a single lobster TAIL. I told her that what I
wanted was a single lobster. She THEN said "I'm sorry, but you
ordered the tail" and then she walked away!!! At this point I
could see my dad was upset--he had just finished listening to me
discussing with my mom about how I hadn't had Maine lobster in
years and years and how I was looking forward to the Maine
lobster--but because I didn't want to wreck my parents' special,
I just smiled and gave up trying to deal with the waitress, so I
agreed to eat the lobster tail.
This was the WORST case of service I have had in a long, long
time. I have been a waitress before and I know how hard the work
is. I have messed up on orders--and I have had customers mess up
their orders--and in all instances I have done what I could to
make the situation "right". Never have I experienced the kind of
service I had at Rosebuds--and this is an expensive restaurant,
too!
Needless to say, we won't be eating at Rosebuds again."

Anonymous part of
11 had dinner at Rosebuds Live Maine Lobster, Chick Marsala,
Prime Rib, Brie and rated the food excellent because,
"fantastic. Out of eleven people in our party everyone's food
was excellent." and writes on July 7, 2007, "I had family
visiting for summer vacation so we all decided to go out to eat.
I wanted a place that had a varied menu, i.e., steaks, seafood,
pastas etc... Eleven of us walked in. I thought we would have a
long wait, but the hostess was very accommodating, and swiftly
set up a table. We had a nice table by a fire place. The kids
menu had great choices, even a steak option. We ordered the Brie
appetizer which was very tasty, the Calamari was real and very
good, and the Buffalo Shrimp Plank was excellent. We had a few
Clam Chowders- thick and you can tell homemade. All of our
dinners were cooked perfectly- Real Gulf Grouper! The Prime Rib
was very tender, and the Live Maine Lobster was a definite hit,
oh and it's nice to still have a restaurant that still includes
salad with dinner! My family of eleven ran that poor waitress
ragged... we can be very demanding... but she did great,
efficient with no attitude... hard to find nowadays. We'll
definitely be back. A very well run place."

Anonymous party of
2 had dinner at Rosebuds ordering fish and steak and rated the
food excellent because, "everything was prepared just perfect
from the drinks to desert." and writes on August 11, 2006, "I
was pleasantly surprised once I entered Rosebuds. The atmosphere
welcomed me inside to a wonderful dinning experience.
Once seated, our waiter came over to welcome us to Rosebuds and
inquired to our desire for a drink. The selection was more than
usual. I had a dirty Ketal One martini up with ice on the side
while my wife, Diane, tried a cinnamon apple martini. Being our
first time here we both ordered certain drinks and dishes to
test and compare. We don't hesitate to drive hours just to try a
restaurant and continue going back if we feel it's a good place
to eat.
Our drinks were some of the best we had anywhere. My wife's fish
not only tasted good, but it had a good aroma as it was served
to her. My steak was prepared to perfection for me as I like it
cooked Pittsburgh rare.
No pressure from the wait staff to hurry us through. We had a
very relaxing dinner and I'm looking forward to going back again
and again."

An anonymous writer
rates the food very good because, "selection is very good;
prepared properly and good portions" and writes on 10/30/03: "We
like this restaurant because they take reservations, even in
season, and the early bird specials are an excellent value.
Service from friendly wait staff is reliable. We never felt
rushed and were not invisible awaiting attention. If arriving
for the early bird, we often order the prime rib or a chicken
dish. Ask for the specials. Although not a gourmet's restaurant
by any stretch of the imagination, most of the dishes are
well-prepared and satisfying for a meal with friends. My
husband's favorite is the macadamia nut encrusted grouper. The
salads are mundane and a disappointment with too much dressing
gobbed on them. We also don't enjoy the broccoli side dish which
is huge and tastes as though smothered in salty Velveeta.
Although the restaurant can be pretty noisy when full, the nice
carpeting and "rosebud" touches make it feel like a "dining out"
experience without too much sticker shock. Not a good place for
children or privacy."
Jim Sanville writes on
4/6/2003: "We were invited to dine there by friends who had fine
experiences there so we went on Valentine's Day. We were all
surprised that the menu was different than our friends had
experienced and much more expensive than they thought. However
we stayed and had a fine dinner. Price and selection on this
holiday was our only complaint."
