Kurt Stefan party of 2 had dinner at Myakka River
Oyster Bar in Venice and rated the Steamed mussels, mahi sandwich,
fried oysters very good because, "cooked well and tasted delicious."
and writes on March 6, 2007, "A friend and I went to the Oyster Bar
for dinner on Sunday night and had a great time. We sat on the
enclosed porch and had a nice view of the waterway for sunset. The
steamed mussels were served in the steaming tray, no frills but
delicious. My Mahi-Mahi sandwich was large and char grilled just
right, and my friend's fried oysters were crispy, not greasy, and
also delicious. You eat on paper menus with plastic utensils, which
adds to the quaint ambiance of the restaurant. Our waiter Justin was
friendly and accommodating. It was a very enjoyable dinner, at a
very reasonable price. Just don't go in expecting a ritzy
establishment and you'll enjoy it."

Overall Experience: 2 Jared Sutton party of 2 had lunch at Myakka River
Oyster Bar and rated the Grouper Sandwich and Fish and chips basket
poor because, "my fiance ordered the Fish and fries basket and what
was served was some fries and 4 fish sticks that looked like the
came from a box right out of the grocery freezer. You cannot serve
frozen fish in Florida and charge $10.00 for it." and writes on
October 15, 2006, "I rated the experience a poor because of two
reasons:
The first thing that I saw in the menu was a little disclaimer
saying that "Sarasota county has asked us to be a paper friendly
restaurant and to conserve water" so everything that we ordered was
served on Styrofoam plates and cups. If you want to help the
environment maybe Styrofoam (being one of the worst things for the
environment) is not the way to go.
Secondly, I order a grouper sandwich for $12.00 a little high for a
Florida favorite, but then I wanted fries that cost an extra $1.95,
and cheese on the grouper sandwich that cost $0.50, and if I wanted
it blackened it would of cost and extra $0.75. I think this is
crazy, why nickel and dime some on for stuff that should come with
the meal. A piece of cheese for 50 cents is crazy, especially when
the sandwich cost $12.00 to start with. The frozen fish sticks just
topped cake, and for $10.00 that should just be criminal.
Why eat here, you can buy it your self in the freezer section at
your local grocery store!"
