Anonymous party of 4 had dinner at Michael's on East and rated the lobster pots poor because, "Cold lobsters, empty mussels" and writes on 9/24/2009: "We had to wait 30 mn for a table, the waiter was rude and the food not hot.
Not to recommend."

Kay Paquette party of 4 dined at Michael's on East and rated the food poor because, "The Pork Tenderloin was dry and chewy." and writes on May 22, 2006, "Presentation of the entree and especially the desert was excellent. However the pork was chewy and dry. Thank goodness for the sauce. It will be hard to get my husband back. We were dining for the first time at Michaels, and though the ambience was great, the meal was Very Poor."

Anonymous party of 2 had dinner at Michael's on East and rated the Spring Rolls, shrimp, appetizers good because, "It was flavorful but not hot." and writes on March 8, 2006, "My brother and I have been to Michael's several times and had good experiences before. Tonight, however, was not a good one. When sitting in a booth in the bar upon permission, the hostess (an older gal) came over and told us it was reserved and that we had to be out of there by 7:30. As the time approached, she informed us that the 8 o'clock reservation changed to the dining room. When we tried to confirm her permission to stay, she said the table next to us wanted our spot so we still had to leave. Upon our exit, we wanted to buy the couple, who had the original 8 p.m. reservation, a round of drinks as a "thank you" for allowing us to keep the table for a short while longer (even if we were still being forced to leave). The hostess (and a host) continued to tell us how the couple wanted "privacy" After several go-rounds, we finally realized they were flat-out lying. We are very well-dressed professionals. Our only conclusion is discrimination of our young ages. We seriously hope we are wrong, but our instincts tell us otherwise. Even if there was a reservation that cancelled, we should not have been told to leave for a neighboring patron just because they wanted to sit there. To top things off, all I really wanted was to enjoy the pianist who started 35 minutes after he was supposed to, and quit playing 20 minutes later just after I left a generous tip in his jar. He may have finally returned. By the time we left, it was 25 minutes later and that is way too long for a break, I think."

Don Arenz rates the food very good and says, "We ate here for lunch on 01/11/05 and dinner on 01/12/05. We enjoyed lunch more than dinner. Service was very good and the lunch staff made recommendations for our dinner menu. Crab cakes are made with very little filler and were very good. The Duck rolls were also a very good appetizer along with the calamari. I had swordfish that was done to perfection and my wife had the rack of lamb that was excellent. The deserts at lunch and at dinner were not very creative and we found them to be disappointing.
There are two fine dining spots in Sarasota and Siesta Key: Michaels on East and Olivia's on the Bay in Siesta Key. They are both very good with great wine lists, a varied menu and delightful presentations. However, for our choice for the best fine dining would be Olivia's due to the romantic waterfront setting."

Joe DiV writes on 1/20/2003: "The food was cooked perfectly. The taste just lit up your tongue with delight. The waitress was helpful in describing several of the dishes and was there when you need her and always polite. We enjoyed the dining so much we returned the next evening with a party of 14 of us and our friends are still talking about a great night out with great food and drink."

Brendan Kyne writes on 8/21/2001, "Without doubt the best restaurant I have been in during my stays in the Sarasota area. (A visitor to the area from abroad on many occasions). A good choice on the menu, I liked the offer of shared starters. Their Caesar salad is excellent. The tuna was ordered medium and was perfect, indeed it was excellent. The other meals, a fillet, pasta and lamb were equally as good It was very well presented and the service could not be given enough praise. A very nice setting, with privacy and atmosphere. The deserts were shared and there was an excellent choice-again well presented. Coffee and after dinner drinks, again a good variety. The baileys coffee to be recommended. After meal service was polite (and) no pressure to leave the table. This was a service to be complemented and to be rewarded in the proper manner. No one would be disappointed with Michaels On East. Its well worth a visit.."
