party of 2 had dinner at Maison Blanche and rated the Filet
Mignon, Rack of Lamb, "delicious cheese" very good because,
"prepared as should be" and writes on March 28, 2010, "Though we
enjoyed our dinner tremendously we were disappointed to find
Foie Gras on the menu. A sophisticated establishment should not
offer such a controversial unethical product because educated
diners know of the egregious manufacture of this item.
"When we voiced our concerns to the owner the telephone, he was
indifferent if not impolite. Customer satisfaction seems not to
be important to him.
"We will therefore not revisit and make sure we only make
reservation at upscale establishments that do not sell foie gras."

party of 2 had dinner at Maison Blanche and rated the Short
ribs, Curried Lamb Dish, Sorbet, Chocolate Lava Cake excellent
because, "Everything was top notch - delicious" and writes on
December 4, 2006, "Superior in every detail. The food is
exquisite. The meal started with homemade bread, then a
surprise, a small serving of a delicious cold tomato soup with
arugala pesto topping, I guess you'd call it. (This course
changes seasonally.) The short ribs fell off the bone and the
sauce was delicately but perfectly seasoned. The lemon and
coconut sorbet was the best I've ever had and I am a sorbet
connoisseur. Had we known we would get a small "complimentary"
tray of sweets, we may not have ordered dessert at all but, oh
well, we ate it all anyway. The dining room is elegant with off
white hanging draperies on the walls. You might choose to dress
up and just wear resort casual. Expect to pay over $100 for two
(much, much more if you add appetizers and wine, which we
didn't), but for a special treat you absolutely cannot do better
in Sarasota. "

party of 2 ordered Celery and potato foam with caviar, duck
ravioli, roasted lobster, filet mignon with a potato chip bridge
to a roasted sweet shallot, St. Marcelin cheese with salad and
Buche de Noel with raspberry sorbet and rated the food excellent
because, "every aspect of the meal was perfect" and writes on
January 1, 2005: "The best food I have ever eaten in the United
States....and I am a 53 year old American! French perfection
without the heavy cream sauces. From the fresh baked bread,
celery potato foam topped with caviar, roasted lobster with
asparagus tips, duck ravioli, filet mignon with a homemade
potato chip bridge to a roasted shallot it was an explosion of
flavors, tastes and textures. A New Years Eve epicurean fantasy.
I have never bothered to write a review in my life but this
place IS Paris on Longboat. The meal was a fixed, 8 course menu.
Each and every course was magnificent.
The evening flowed. The courses were brought just when we were
ready for them. The wait staff timing was impeccable. We got to
the restaurant at just before 8:00 p.m. and at 11:20 were
finished. The time went so quickly. It was just a magical
evening with fabulous food. My favorite course was the duck
ravioli with a rich, but light red wine sauce. We were also
delighted with the cheese course. The cheese was St. Marcelin,
served with a raisin and currant toast with a simple, lightly
dressed salad. Everything was done to perfection." Robert &
Susan H. ordered the Mushroom Ravioli, Braised Short Ribs and
rated the food excellent. They write on 5/3/2004: "We were
pleasantly surprised to discover Maison Blanche in the lobby
level of Four Winds Resort, occupying the old Ivo's space.
The design and color scheme of the new restaurant is upscale and
slick. A delightful change from the ordinary.
We were greeted warmly, immediately seated, and offered a glass
of Champagne.
From the first course to the final course, we had nothing but
rave reviews, and immediately scheduled another evening later in
the week to entertain friends.
Every aspect of our evening at Maison Blanche can be summed up
with one word: outstanding.
The food, the decor, the service . . . simply outstanding." An
anonymous writer says the food was excellent bacuse, "It's THE
best restaurant in the area." Anonymous ordered scallops and
writes on 4/5//2004: In the course of a two month stay on
Longboat Key we tried many of the areas restaurants. We live in
Toronto, and travel frequently to NYC and Europe, so our
expectations are high. Maison Blanche is by far the best
restaurant in Sarasota/Longboat Key. I only hope it doesn't
become too popular so that reservations are difficult. It's a
beautiful room, with the front of the house managed so
professionally by the chefs wife. They make a fabulous team. The
design of both the room and the restrooms are a treat for the
eyes. The value is incredible!" Anonymous
and a party of 5 enjoyed mushroom ravioli with foie gras, sea
bass, grouper, lamb, veal shank and writes on 12/30/2002: "This
was one of the best dinner experiences I have ever had. It began
with mushroom ravioli that caused us to make a reservation for
the next evening. The prawns were an interesting mix of sweet
and tart-delicious and the salad was plentiful and very fresh.
The selections were varied-meat and fish...over the two nights
we were able to taste lots of
dishes....all were outstanding. Although there is not a kids
menu there was a rack of lamb and and prime rib...mashed
potatoes etc....not really a kids restaurant but we did fine.
The service was outstanding and not pretentious, we had lots of
questions about the menu and all were accurately
answered...desert had lots of choices although we were probably
too full to do it justice... we cant wait to go back. a
wonderful dining experience" |
