Jennifer party of 2 had Yuuca Frita, Habanero sauce with bread, Flan, Mariscos al Acho and rated the food excellent because, "wonderful, the service was attentive without being intrusive and the menu is unique." And writes on  3/18/2010, "My family vacations on Siesta Key every year in July and on the last night of our stay my husband and I always go to a nice dinner at Javier's. We can walk from our condo and we look forward to our evening out away from the kids. Our food is always wonderful... inventive, unique, adventurous, delicious! We've been keeping track of what we order from year to year so we can try something different each time. Javier himself is always there and he welcomes everyone warmly. Its clear that there are many regular customers as he calls people by name and prepares the Ceasar Salad and Bananas Foster tableside. We have tried lots of restaurants in Siesta Key and Sarasota for our big family dinner out, but we've never found a restaurant we like as much as Javier's. Of course, my husband and I want to keep this little secret all to ourselves rather than share it with the rest of our group."

Jim and Diane Covington had Tapas Dinner and rated the food excellent because, "extraordinary! We had the tapas dinner. We loved it so much that we went back the following night." and writes on April 1, 2009, "My husband and I had never had tapas before, so this was quite unexpected. The food was absolutely delicious and very, very fresh. The sangria was exceptional. After coming to Siesta Key for almost 10 years, we can't believe we found this jewel!"

Anonymous party of 2 rated the appetizers, salads, soup, pasta, ribs, desserts excellent because, "delicious. The 'small plate' concept was a good one." and writes on March 20, 2009, "As we walked in, some of the locals smiled at us and told us that we were in for a treat. We decided to order from the tapas menu - which is a fixed price for a 4 course meal. I loved my crispy empanadas -filled with tender beef and served with marinated onion. My dinner partner loved his fish soup, which was prepared with tomato, onion and veggies. My pasta had chicken, artichokes, green onion, mushrooms and was served in a light parmesan sauce. The ribs my partner ordered were among the best he'd tasted (and he orders ribs a lot).
We were concerned that Peruvian food would be too spicy, so we asked the waitress and were directed to the one very spicy dish on the menu. The others are either mild or not at all spicy.
We ordered a flourless chocolate cake, and a coconut flan for dessert.
The owner was charming and attentive and had a station in the dining room from where he made everything that was flambéed. We didn't have one particular waitress. instead we were basically served by any of the staff. The service was good, but we did have to ask for refills. The ambiance was warm, friendly, and festive. We will definitely return."

Anonymous party of 4 rated the food fair because, "the service was so awful it took away from the entire experience." and writes on October 25, 2006, "I am writing about this experience on as many restaurant review sites as I can because my experience was so incredibly awful.
This was by far one of my worst dining experiences. My parents were visiting from New York and I took them out for a nice evening, which was ruined by abysmal service.
First, we waited 20 minutes with our menus closed on the table for our waitress to take our order until we finally had to flag her down. After she took our order, she said she’d bring some bread and butter for the table. After another 15 minutes, we gave up and asked a busboy.
Next, we asked that the appetizer that my boyfriend and I were sharing be brought with the soup and salad my parents ordered, so we could all have something to eat at the same time. Instead, our appetizer was brought out and my parents sat and watched us eat.
When we complained to management, we were informed that “they were a team here and our waitress did nothing wrong”. Quite frankly, I wasn’t interested in their company structure or values, I cared about the service (or lack thereof) I was receiving. For what it’s worth, it appears “The Customer is Always Right” isn’t one of those values.
The manager also said that we should not have waited so long to say something to her. In hindsight I can only infer that this happens all of the time and most people have learned to complain earlier.
To end the painfully long evening, they attempted to automatically apply a gratuity of over 20% to a party of only 4.
Sarasota has no shortage of restaurants with great food. It is only the service which separates them. I would not waste your time at Javier’s."

Anonymous party of 2 rated the food fair because, "One good menu item and one really bad" and writes on May 26, 2006, "My wife and I visited Javier's on 5/25/2006. She ordered the Duck and I ordered "Lomo Saltadi" or beef tenderloin with onions. Her dish was prepared beautifully, crispy as advertised. My dish was terrible, the menu stated beef tenderloin, that was not what I received. The meat was tough and overcooked, it was probably chuck! Every thing about the establishment was great. ambiance, service! They skimp on one dish and that is enough to make me never return. Why don't they deliver what the menu states. I live in Sarasota and will not return to this establishment! Their loss."
