Anonymous party of
2 had dinner at Crab & Fin on St. Armands and rated the cobia
and Tuna excellent because, "served hot, beautifully prepared
and presented." and writes on May 7, 2010, "We liked our meal
very much. We chose the early dining option and were surprised
that after we ordered our main dish, we were told we could have
salad or soup with our order at no charge. I had the gazpacho
soup and my wife had the house salad. Both were delicious. To
add to the ambiance, we were also served a smoked salmon pate
without charge. Our fish was cooked just the way we wanted it.
No one rushed us, and we had a delightful evening.
We will definitely return."

Anonymous party of
4 had dinner at Crab & Fin and rated the food poor because, "The
waiter was the rudest I have ever encountered" and writes on
March 19, 2007, "The food was mediocre but the service was
unbelievable. My husband & I were entertaining clients and were
enjoying some conversation when the waiter arrived with the
menus and told us he would return in 5 minutes for our order. We
continued to converse when he arrived with pen in hand and stood
until we all felt obliged to rush an order. The food arrived and
he immediately asked us how our "lunch was" We were
there at 4:30 and assumed we had been given dinner menu's. I
could go on but I still get angry thinking how rude he was."

Anonymous party of
4 rated the food poor because "service nothing short of rude,
and flies on food" and writes on May 21, 2006, "I ate in this
restaurant after a recommendation. It was a poor choice. Having
traveled extensively worldwide both on business and pleasure, I
have no hesitation in confirming this to be the worst restaurant
I have ever eaten in. The servers were aggressive and rude, the
wrong food was delivered to our table with no apologies, and at
different times to our party. The food was cold and
unappetizing. The manager, if he really was the manager, was
just as rude and offensive and one would have received far
superior customer service from a well known fast-food outlet,
and then to top it all we had dead flies on our fruit and in our
drinks. He did not even make any attempt to put right this
horrendous experience. One can only assume, they have enough
customers walking around St. Armands who will refill their
tables in order to listen to their house pianist. This is one to
avoid and I understand that Hemmingway's is the place to be, or
alternatively, check out the Hungry Fox."

Tina Pinho party of
3 rated the food excellent because, "Everything was prepared
fresh as fresh it can be!" and writes on February 23, 2005: "The
Crab cakes were outstanding. One of the best I have had here in
Sarasota. Full of fresh Crabmeat and no peppers in it which I
hate. Also came with red skinned potatoes, rutabaga and Swiss
chard and a freshly made remoulade sauce with a nice kick to it.
My girlfriend and I also had the Martha's Vineyard salad with
this wonderful dressing that I can't explain. We also shared the
Brie and fruit plate and my other girlfriend had the Grilled
Portobello sandwich which she said was to die for. Key Lime Pie
was for desert and a very nice presentation it was besides being
scrumptious. All 3 of us highly recommend the Crab & Fin and it
was packed yesterday the day we were there."
An anonymous writer
says the food was fair because, "soft shell crabs were deep
fried and hardly any flavor." Anonymous ordered dinner and
writes on 4/4/2004: "We ate their 2 nights in a row, hoping the
2nd night would be better than the first.
Unfortunately it was not.
Both the women's and men's bathrooms were filthy.
When our waitress brought the salmon, even she apologized for
the cut of meat and the presentation.
I would guess that Crab & Fin has had some management changes or
needs them and may be having problems in the kitchen."
Chris Parent rated
the food excellent because: "the best crab cakes outside of
Maryland!" Chris ordered crab cakes, scrod, pasta and has eaten
at Crab & Fin 20 times writes on 2/28/04: "This night we were
put upstairs but i found the piano player excellent and the food
even better! it's our favorite on the circle followed closely by
Tommy Bahama's and Hemingway's. if you like crab please try
their cakes once...most other restaurants make mush of their
cakes...crab and fin spent the money to travel to Maryland and
study how to make them right before they listed them on their
menu!"
An anonymous writer
rates the food poor because, "It was cold, expensive and it took
forever to get there service." And writes on 10/29/03: "The
service first of all, is terrible it took forever to get served.
The king crab legs promoted at being half a pound, were two
medium size crab legs... not even 1/4 pound. There is no
bartender we ordered four plain cocktails (Bacardi & coke etc)
and they were horrendous. The best part of the night was when
the bus boy brought a glass of water to pass the food. On the
positive side they have good bread. And this is the only
positive thing about this restaurant. great location, horrible
food, horrible prices."
