Colvin party of 4 had the almond crusted grouper w/ vegetables
and rated the food excellent because, "hot and cooked to
perfection and the service was excellent /view of the
intercoastal waterway great" and writes on April 29, 2010,
"Living near this restaurant we often go there because it is
predictably very good. The only item I would not re-order is the
calamari because it was not crispy and was just the rings.
However the bouillibaise and the almond crusted snapper and all
fish dishes are superb. Willi the owner is usually in the
kitchen and you can't get a better water view than from here.
The seating is very casual and the outside tiki bar adds
ambiance. You can sit inside or outside and the service is very
friendly and efficient."

party of 2 rated the Red Snapper and 1/2 lb. hamburgers
excellent because "From Hamburers to Fish (Red Snapper) the food
was excellent." and writes on January 10, 2010: "The restaurant
is located in a quaint part of Casey Key - every time we go, we
must wait for a swing bridge (which is unusual) to allow us to
go to the island. The restaurant indicates it has cold beer. We
ordered the beer - they must keep it in the freezer - man was it
cold and good on a warm afternoon. The chef is quite talented -
he has a menu that includes typical hamburgers, etc., but he
also had more complicated meals that involve fish as well as
meat entrées.
We have been there three times. Each time was better than the
last. The waitress was always friendly, not rushed and provided
attention to detail if something was taking longer to cook,
filling water glasses, etc.
In addition to the restaurant there is an outdoor bar in a Tiki
hut type of area. We have not been there for a drink, but assume
that if it is as good as the restaurant, it is great.
It is an unusual restaurant. Certainly worth going and trying
out. I am returning to FL at the end of January 2010 and this is
on our list of favorite restaurants to go and visit."

party of 3 ordered salads and rated the food fair because, "The
salad was okay, but we would have preferred to order some kind
of fish." and writes on April 4, 2007, "We heard the food at the
Casey Key Fish House was very good so we stopped on March 14,
2007 for lunch. The waitress was very rude to us. Since my
husband is on a low sodium diet we ask if they could prepare
something without salt on it. The waitress told us that they
only had a small grill and they were to busy to fix something
without sodium on it. We then ordered a salad. We were sitting
near the kitchen and my husband noticed one of the waitresses
take a salad out of the refrigerator, take something off of the
salad and eat it and then took the salad and gave it to a
customer.
We gave our waitress our American Express card to pay the bill.
She returned it to us, slamming it down on the table, saying
they did not accept it. We gave her our Mastercard. When she
returned the bill to us, my husband signed the bill and then
asked for our Mastercard. She said she had already given it back
to us. She could not find the card. We had to call and cancel
the card before we left this restaurant.
The waitress was also rude to the 4 people at the table next to
us. She refused to separate the charges for them saying she was
too busy to do it. " norman
adams party of 4 ordered almond snapper and rated the food
excellent because, "of the recommendation of our server" and
writes on November 23, 2004, "This was our first visit, prompted
by an advertisement in the Sarasota newspaper. We arrived approx
5.00pm so that we could enjoy the sunset. Our server was
JESSICA, and she could not have been more delightful and
helpful. Her recommendation for one of the evening specials,
Almond Snapper, was so appealing that we all ordered it....great
choice, and we all agreed that it ranked with the best snapper
dishes any of us had ever eaten. I am sure that some restaurant
owners tend to forget sometimes how much their serving staff
influence a customer's opinion of their dining experience, and
we can give Jessica no higher compliment than to say that while
the food was superb and modest in cost; the drinks generous and
also reasonably priced; the sunset up to its usual Florida high
standards; we shall certainly return for all of the above, but
especially for the chance to again be served by Jessica. The
restaurant was busy as we left with people waiting for tables,
so these comments will likely not make for any extra business
for them, given their great location on the water; their great
food and prices; and their great service; but we wanted to
express our views, as all too often, people are free with their
criticisms, but unfortunately less likely to let a restaurant
know of all their positives. Many thanks for a great
evening!!!!!!!" |
